Downtown Commute May Be Impacted by Sold-out Get Motivated Seminars on May 31

T-Mobile Center, Kansas City’s award winning downtown arena, is advising commuters traveling downtown to expect heavier-than-usual traffic on Tuesday, May 31. Roads and interstates leading into downtown could be congested during peak with more than 20,000 guests expected to attend the sold-out Get Motivated event featuring Bill Cosby, Laura Bush, Rudy Giuliani, General Colin Powell, Joe Montana, several business leaders and celebrities. Motorists are encouraged to allow ample travel time as delays may occur due Broadway overpass construction. In addition, Grand Boulevard will be closed from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to accommodate pedestrian traffic.

Monthly parkers in City garages will not be affected. Daily parkers near T-Mobile Center and City Hall will experience a greater demand at privately owned parking facilities. Guests are encouraged to carpool, arrive early and pack lightly to expedite entry through security. A complimentary shuttle service will operate between Kemper Arena parking lots and T-Mobile Center to meet increased demand for daily parking. The shuttle service will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Doors for Get Motivated open at 6:45 a.m. The event begins at 8 a.m. and is sold out. The event will be broadcast via satellite at the Kansas City Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium.
