Sixers & HEAT Meet at T-Mobile Center on Friday, Oct. 13

Kansas City, Mo. (Aug. 3, 2017) – The Philadelphia 76ers, led by guard Markelle Fultz, the first overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft and former Kansas Jayhawk standout, center Joel Embiid, will take on the Miami HEAT at T-Mobile Center on Friday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The Sixers will play at T-Mobile Center for the first time.

“It’s really exciting to play a preseason game in Kansas City, which is not far from where I played college basketball for the Jayhawks,” Embiid said. “I know that area has some great basketball fans and it will be fun to be back playing for the Sixers.”

Embiid starred at the University of Kansas during the 2013-14 season when he averaged 11 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in 23 minutes per game. The seven-foot Cameroon native shot 63 percent from the field and was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. That season, the Jayhawks compiled a 25-10 regular season record behind Embiid and current Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins. They earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Miami selected former Kentucky center Bam Adebayo with the 14th overall pick in the draft. He played in three games at MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2017 and posted 15 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes per game. The HEAT also features center Hassan Whiteside, who led the league in rebounding a season ago.
