T-Mobile Center Ends 2013 as Eighth Busiest Arena in America

Kansas City, Mo. (Jan. 13, 2014) – T-Mobile Center, Kansas City’s award winning arena, finished 2013 at the eighth spot among U.S. live entertainment venues according to Pollstar, a leading concert and venue industry publication. In the highly anticipated year-end issue which hits newsstands this week, T-Mobile Center is ranked at the 26th position among the Top 200 worldwide venues. Kansas City’s award winning arena, was one of a select number of US concert venues listed in the top 30 spots on this prestigious list – only trailing venues in New York City, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Nashville.

“T-Mobile Center’s continued success reflects unbridled passion for live entertainment in Kansas City and throughout the Midwest,” said Brenda Tinnen, AEG Kansas City senior vice president and general manager. “Exceeding the expectations of our guests, artists, managers and agents allows us to aggressively attract diverse programming that reinforces Kansas City’s world-class reputation.”

Additionally, as a result of exceeding both attendance and fiscal projections for FY2012-2013, T-Mobile Center/AEG provided more than $1.47 million in unanticipated revenue to the city of Kansas City, Mo. through a profit-sharing provision in the arena management agreement. Since opening in 2007, T-Mobile Center/AEG has provided more than $9.3 million to the city of Kansas City, Mo. as part of this unique public-private partnership.

T-Mobile Center’s 2013 calendar featured two sold-out shows Taylor Swift, the top tour in North America. Additional sell-outs included P!nk, One Direction, The Eagles, Bruno Mars, Fleetwood Mac, Kid Rock, Maroon 5, Carrie Underwood and Lady Gaga; return visits by Drake, Michael Buble’, New Kids on the Block and first time capacity shows by Bruno Mars, The Black Keys and Blake Shelton, as well as family shows and motorsports events.

Pollstar utilizes an extensive database to collect box office reports from the world’s top-level artists, promoters and venues during the 2013 calendar year. Rankings are based on tickets sold for live entertainment performances between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013.
