T-Mobile Center Ends 2014 Ranked Among America’s Best Arenas

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 12, 2015) – T-Mobile Center was named one of 2014’s top venues in the world by Pollstar magazine. The leading concert trade publication, which hits newsstands this week, ranked T-Mobile Center as No. 30 on the list of top worldwide concert venues. A closer look at the top worldwide concert venue rankings indicates that T-Mobile Center landed at No. 11 among U.S. concert venues – behind cities including New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia.

As a result of the arena’s continued programming success in FY 2013-14, T-Mobile Center/AEG provided $927,144 in unanticipated revenue to the City of Kansas City through a provision in the management agreement. Since opening in 2007, the entertainment and sports venue has provided nearly $10 million in additional funds to the city coffers.

“T-Mobile Center is committed to attracting diverse live entertainment and performances from the world’s most sought-after performers,” said Brenda Tinnen, T-Mobile Center/AEG General Manager and Senior Vice President. “Citizens from throughout the Midwest continue to elevate T-Mobile Center among the world’s most renown venues resulting in unprecedented financial success for the City of Kansas City.”

According to Pollstar:

  • Seven of the top 10 worldwide concert tours have visited (2014) or are scheduled to visit T-Mobile Center in 2015.
  • Among the top 10 North American concert tours in 2014, T-Mobile Center hosted two Justin Timberlake shows, Katy Perry, Jason Aldean, Paul McCartney and Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
  • George Strait’s performance at T-Mobile Center on Jan. 18, 2014, set the arena’s one day attendance record at 19,551.

As part of the magazine’s popular year-end issue, Pollstar utilized its extensive database to collect box office reports from nearly 100 percent of the world’s top-level artists, promoters and venues during the 2014 calendar year. The result is a series of rankings, each highlighting T-Mobile Center and the world-class acts it brought to Kansas City last year, cementing the arena as one of the world’s hottest entertainment venues.
