T-Mobile Center Ranks Eighth Among America’s Arenas in Pollstar 2013 Mid-Year Report

Kansas City, Mo. (July 19, 2013) – Pollstar Magazine, a leading concert and venue industry publication, released their 2013 Mid-Year Report in the July 22 issue which includes rankings of Top 100 Worldwide Arenas. In the annual Mid-Year issue, T-Mobile Center is ranked as the eighth busiest arena in the United States and no. 26 among worldwide venues for live entertainment and concert ticket sales.

“Bringing world class entertainment to Kansas City is a priority for T-Mobile Center,” said Brenda Tinnen, AEG Kansas City general manager and senior vice president. “For Kansas City to be included among the largest metropolitan areas in the United States and cities across the world is a testament to our passion for diverse, live events.”

Pollstar utilizes an extensive database to collect box office reports from nearly 100 percent of the world’s top-level artists, promoters and venues. Rankings are based on tickets sold for live entertainment performances between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2013.

Development Strategies, Inc., recently conducted a detailed study of the impact to the area and state economy since T-Mobile Center began operations five years ago. The study shows T-Mobile Center generated more than $660 million in added economic output and helped create 1,361 annual average jobs in the state of Missouri since its opening in Oct. 2007. In addition, T-Mobile Center attracted 5.6 million visitors during the venue’s first five years of operation, generated in excess of $19 million for the Missouri state treasury and more than $9 million for the City of Kansas City. T-Mobile Center directly employs more than 500 people and supports an additional 830 jobs in the bi-state metropolitan area and an additional 858 jobs through the State of Missouri.
